2 What Types of Nursing Programs Do We Offer?  Practical Nursing Certificate  1 year Program: prepares you to sit for NCLEX – PN (State Boards)  For students who do NOT have an LPN license  Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing  1 year Program: prepares you to sit for NCLEX – RN (State Boards)  For students who are Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)  Recommended to meet with an Advisor  We do NOT offer a 2 year traditional RN Program 2

4 Step 1 - Applying to SCC  Complete and submit a SCC Admissions Application  No Fee  Submit official high school transcript or GED, along with official college transcript (if applicable)  Register to take the ACCUPLACER placement test or provide proof of exemption such as, SAT scores (Math: 530; Critical Reading: 540; High School Transcript: 3.0 GPA), or proof of previous college placement testing from another college 4

5 Step 2 - Preparing for ATI TEAS V  Start Studying for ATI TEAS V – Nursing Entrance Exam  Topics: Reading - Math - Science - English & Language Usage  Study Guides and Practice exams can be purchased at SCC’s bookstore or ATI Website: www.atitesting.com  TEAS V study manual and online practice assessments (form A and B) cost $143.35, and Study Manual for $64  Can purchase online or at SCC Bookstore 5

6  What does the TEAS V test stand for?  Test of Essential Academic Skills  What is the format of the ATI TEAS® V Test?  Reading – Paragraph and Passage Comprehension, and Informational Source Comprehension  Math – Numbers and Operations, Algebraic Applications, Data Interpretation, and Measurement  Science –Human Body Science, Life Science, Earth and Physical Science, Scientific Reasoning  English and Language Usage – Grammar and Word Meanings in Context, Spelling and Punctuation, Structure Useful Information about ATI TEAS V 6

7  How long will the test take? - It is a computerized test that takes a maximum of 209 minutes (3.5/hrs) and includes 150 scored multiple-choice questions & NO CALCULATORS  How much does the ATI Exam cost? - $80  Where and when can I take the ATI Exam?  You need to test on SCC Campus: Starting in October 2015  Where do I go to pay for the exam? - ATI’s website ATITESTING.COM  Study Guides and Practice can be purchased at SCC’s bookstore or ATI Website: www.atitesting.com  Should I retake the exam to get a higher score? – Yes  There is no penalty for retesting – must wait 45 days to retest Questions and Answers -- ATI TEAS V 7

8 Step 3 - Signing up for TEAS  Sign up for ATI TEAS V – Nursing Entrance Exam - $80  Dates and Times are on SCC Website – under Nursing Center – will be posted in September  TEAS must be taken on SCC Campus  Your TEAS scores are valid for two years from the time taken  You can take the TEAS 3 times in 1 year  365 days from 1st test date  E.G., March 15, 2015 to March 15, 2016 – 3 exams can be taken. 8

9 Step 4 - Meeting Admissions Criteria  ALL Nursing Applicants:  Need a minimum of 50% in Math & Reading  “College Ready” to take A/P 1 & ENG 101  ADN Applicants: A total score of 60% or higher will be accepted for consideration  PN Applicants: A total score of 50% or higher will be accepted for consideration  Maximum of 100 points earned BASIC FACT -- The higher your TEAS Scores are… will increase your odds of getting accepted into the Nursing Program 9

11 The rest of the Rubric Contains 11 ATI TEAS Score _______________Total Work Experience (W.E.) ADN Applicants ONLY! 1 point Salem County Residents and/or SCC Students (SCCS) 1 point (ONLY) Add up the Total Points Earned: “Classes = 24, TEAS 100, W.E.=1, SCR/SCCS=1” Maximum Points Earned on Rubric is 126

12 Step 5 - Complete Rubric & Checklist  Add each section of Rubric (Point System), if applicable, for the total number of points earned  Classes = 24, TEAS 100, W.E.=1, SCR/SCCS=1  Complete Application Checklist  Have current Mailing Address and Phone Number  Update SCC if you moved! 12

13 Step 6 - Submit Packets - Documents Required  ATI Access Report – “Under My Results”  Rubric Sheet  Student Checklist  High School / GED & College Official Sealed Transcripts (if applicable )  Transferred Classes must be on SCC Transcript as “TR”  Need to have a C+ or better – Degree Requirements  ADN applicants - a copy of an active LPN license  * Always make a copy of packet *  Packet must be received by 3:00 pm on April 01, 2016 in Tillis Hall Rm 215 13

14  Admission is competitive, selective and based on your total rubric score.  The Top Rubric Scores Are Admitted:  40 PN Students are accepted once a year  Nursing Courses start in September 2016  30 ADN Students are accepted once a year  Nursing Courses start in June 2016 14 How does the Admission Process Work ?

15 A Few Reminders  Prerequisites are NOT required nor necessary when applying to the Nursing Program!  ADN Students - Must be "College Ready" to take: English 101 and Anatomy & Physiology I during Summer of 2016!  PN Students - Must be "College Ready" to take: English 101 during Summer of 2016!  There is NO early admission  College Courses and grades must be on an Official SCC transcript in order to be counted on the Rubric  You must earn a C+ or higher in ALL courses in the Nursing Program  You have two applications: College Admission and Nursing Program  Two sets of Official Transcripts – one for each Department 15

16  ATI TEAS V – ENTRANCE EXAM  You will be able to register after early October 2015  Dates are posted on the SCC website – under Nursing Center  This exam, taken by prospective nursing students, cost $80 (nonrefundable and nontransferable)  Register online at www.atitesting.com  Instructions are on the SCC website under “Nursing Center”  Nursing Packets MUST be submitted by April 01, 2016  Delivered to Tillis Hall, Room 215, by 3 pm LATE OR INCOMPLETE PACKETS WILL BE REJECTED  Notification of conditional acceptance will be no later than May 25, 2016  Via Letters in the USPS  Verify current your mailing address in packet and at SCC Important Dates to Remember 16
