All Saints' Day is on 1 November. In Poland, the Feast of All Saints’ is the memory of the dead. We meet all the families on the cemetery. We light candles which show our memory of the deceased.

All Souls’ Day - the second day of November in which we pray for the dead in the church. Again we come to the cemetery.

In Poland Independence Day takes place on November 11. The holiday commemorates the anniversary of regaining sovereignty of the Polish nation in 1918 after 123 years of partitions by Austria, Prussia and Russia. This is a day off from work. The main celebrations, attended by senior state officials, are held in Warsaw on Józef Piłsudski Square, by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

In Poland, especially children, celebrate the feast of Saint Nicholas. It takes place on the sixth of December. Children get a little gift, it is like a foretaste of Christmas Eve.

In Poland Ash Wednesday brings us into the mood of Lent and prepare to experience Easter Resurrection. On that day, the faithful receive the ashes, entering into the time established for the purification.

People in Poland come together to celebrate the New Year. People say good wishes in the form of poetry or song. Boys and girls go early in the morning at home and make the wishes of the hosts home. On this occasion of showering down on the threshold of the house oats. This is to ensure fertility and a good year. It is important that the first person to visit the house should be a boy, not a girl. This is to ensure good luck in the forthcoming year.
