2 The Outline of an introduction: Broad to specific
Thesis/Claim Repeat key words from your main points to summarize Clincher – give your reader something to remember

3 Rephrase your Thesis: Use a couple of key words and then rephrase ideas.
Thesis: To prevent dangerous situations, the school board should buy and install security cameras in every classroom. Conclusion: Security cameras in strategic spots will discourage people’s dangerous behavior. Thesis: Security cameras are useful in catching inappropriate behavior after an event occurs, however, they do nothing to stop that event from happening. Conclusion: While it may be helpful to review security camera footage for evidence, the school should put money into guards who can stop tragic events before they happen. Thesis: Security cameras, an effective deterrent for some crimes, should not be the only means of security in our high school. Conclusion: Our school needs more than security cameras to effectively stop crimes and dangerous behaviors.

4 Use Conclusion words all in all ultimately altogether overall
as a result thus consequently in fact in conclusion indeed in effect clearly

5 Repeat your main points
Summarize: The presence of a security guard will stop more crime and violence than the presence of a camera. Kids will be kids and need a more immediate reminder that they have to behave. Putting up more cameras is an ineffective waste of money. Choose the important statements from the body of your paper. Use synonyms Paraphrase Be firm

6 The Clincher: make your reader Think!
Emotional appeal: If the school board wants to protect students, they will need to plan beyond security cameras. Cameras are easy to forget about and dismiss. The use of guards and police officers is a much more real and unforgettable deterrent. Use Expert Knowledge: As Police Chief O’Malley stated in the newspaper, “Along with raising kids with morals and ethics, parents and schools need to teach kids about consequences. Having officers in the schools on a daily basis will remind kids about those consequences.” Positive Note: Our school is lucky to be in a caring community. Let’s continue to keep kids safe by adding more security beyond cameras.

7 Bring it all together in a draft:
All in all, Our school needs more than security cameras to effectively stop crimes and dangerous behaviors. The presence of a security guard will stop more crime and violence than the presence of a camera. Kids will be kids and need a more immediate reminder that they have to behave. Putting up more cameras is an ineffective waste of money. Our school is lucky to be in a caring community. Let’s continue to keep kids safe by adding more security beyond cameras.
