What is a Wiki? wiki A wiki is a page or collection of Web pages designed to enable anyone who has permission to access it to contribute or modify its content. Wikis Wikis are collaborative websites. A wiki is a website where users can add, remove, and edit every page they have been given access to using a web browser 2

7 An Example… Social Studies Current Events Project – John Deserto, Middle school Student posting: Students can upload pictures, videos, write text, include links to websites, insert glogs, widgets, etc. Teacher can put project information into wiki

8 An Example continued… Social Studies Current Events Project Students and teacher can comment on student work Teacher can monitor comments and student work Teacher controls user privileges – writer, editor, view only or make administrator. PBWorks generates usernames and passwords for students under teacher account.
