2 Skill Position Key  Split End: Always lines up on line of scrimmage.  Wingback: Always lines up 1 yard behind the line of scrimmage. Always goes to strong side of formation.  Tight End: Always lines up at the end of the line, unless “open” is called.  Fullback: Always lines up 3 to 4 yards behind QB.  Tailback: Lines up 6 to 7 yards behind QB, unless “Strong” or “T” is called. 3 Terminology “Play side” 36 Powerplay side right guard right tackle37 power left guard left tackle “Play side” – refers to the part of the line of scrimmage that is closest to the call of the play. For example, if the play is 36 Power, the play side offensive linemen would be the right guard and right tackle. If the play was 37 power, the play side offensive linemen would be the left guard and left tackle. “Backside” 36 Powerleft guardleft tackle 37power right guard, right tackle tight end or “Y”. “Backside” – Refers to the part of the line of scrimmage furthest from the call of the play. For example, if the play was 36 Power, the backside offensive lineman would be the left guard, left tackle and possibly the tight end or “Y”, depending on the formation. If the play was 37 power, the backside offensive linemen would be the right guard, right tackle, and possible the tight end or “Y”. 7 Playside Linemen blocking responsibilities versus a 4-4 Defense: “Y” TIGHT END TACKLEGUARDCENTER 37/36 POWER Release outside of playside defensive end and block the playside outside linebacker. Double down to playside defensive tackle with guard and work to playside inside linebacker. Double the playside defensive tackle with Tackle working to DT’s outside shoulder. Check the gap between you and the playside guard guard for LB blitz or slanting DT. If clear, work to backside inside linebacker. 37/36 COUNTE R TRAP Same Blocking as Power. Same blocking as Power. Playside Guard, same blocking as Power. Backside Guard pulls and kicks out play side Defensive End. At 12 open up toward sideline, plant foot and turn down the sideline toward the endzone. Run as if running a Post. 29 Playside Linemen pass block responsibilities versus a 4-4 Defense: “Y” TIGHT END TACKLEGUARDCENTER 37/36 POWER PASS Run 10 yard corner pattern. Block back to the gap between you and the playside guard. Block back to the gap between you and the center. Block back to the gap between you and the backside guard. 37/36 FLY, OUT, FLOOD Run the 10 yard Out pattern Same blocking as Power Pass. Same blocking scheme as Power Pass. 37/36 FLASH/ FLASH & GO Run the 7 yard stop and slide./ Run the 7 yard stop and go Same blocking as Power Pass. 19/18 WAGGLE PASS This will never be run to you when your on the playside. Down block on the playside defensive tackle, while the guard G- Hook blocks the defensive end. Take a bucket step with your outside foot and pull around to play side Defensive End. Make sure to get to his outside shoulder Check gap between you and backside guard.

30 Backside Linemen pass block responsibilities versus a 4-4 Defense: “Y” TIGHT END TACKLEGUARD 37/36 POWER PASS Run 8 yard Drag Pattern. Block back to the gap between you and tight end. Block back to the gap between you and the backside tackle. 37/36 FLY, OUT, FLOOD Must stay in and block. Same blocking as Power Pass. 37/36 FLASH/ FLASH & GO Run 12 yard Post Pattern Same blocking as Power Pass. 19/18 WAGGLE PASS Run 8 yard Drag Pattern.
