5 When students feel a sense of community, they are more likely to persist and report positive feels about their college experience (Tinto, 1985) Students' sense of belonging and community (outcome) is a relationship between the student's expressed interest in a wellness community (inputs) and the experience, programs, and other residential initiatives (environment) (Astin, 1985) Why are LLCs important?

6 Research suggests that given the proper support and challenge, a community can be created to positively influence outcomes such as learning, persistence, and satisfaction with the residential experience.
