2. IBM Software Group 2 Download Procedures  IBM Rational Method Composer 7.5 can be obtained 3 ways  For customers  Download from Passport Advantage using customer account leveraging existing standalone RMC or suite (e.g. TUP) licenses  Purchasing and receiving physical media  For perspective customers  RMC trial download via developerWorks –http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/downloads/r/rup/http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/downloads/r/rup/ –trial versions are active for 30 days and may be extendable under certain circumstances through IBM Rational field teams

3. IBM Software Group 3 What RMC 7.5 Images Do I Really Need?  Most images are needed  Recommended / required  Quick Start Guide; Activation Kit; and RMC 7.5 Tooling and Library Bits (all 6)  Optional (not downloading these will reduce download by 1280+ MB)  ITUP 7.1 library  IBM IM Toolkit (Linux / Windows) –Typically used by customers to set up their own install / distribution servers

4. IBM Software Group 4 Downloading via Download Director – if used  A Download Director applet will appear  This may trigger a security warning  If so, press “Yes” to accept  After providing path where to store files the download will commence  If your download is interrupted, Download Director will allow you to resume!

5. IBM Software Group 5 Installation Procedures After skimming the Quick Start guide there are THREE steps: 1.Install RMC 2.Activate license for RMC (tooling) using IBM Installation Manager 3.Optionally update RMC (tooling) using IBM Installation Manager 4.Optionally install ITUP library

6. IBM Software Group 6 The Quick Start Guide  This download (C1PG2ML) is a PDF file  The Quick Start Guide provides a general overview for how to install RMC 7.5  You’ve already accomplished steps 1, 3, and 4 via prior slides  You may want to do step 2 (Evaluate Hardware and System Configuration)  To complete perform steps 5 and 6 – run the installer and follow provided instructions  Do keep reading this deck for more additional detail

7. IBM Software Group 7 Installing RMC – Step 1: Install RMC  Unzip all the “RMC 7.5 Tooling and Library Bits” to the same directory  CP1PG3ML through CP1PG8ML  This will make a composite set of “RMC install bits” in a “disk1” directory  “Release Information” and “Install Guide” are good references  You may want to open and read before installing!  Install from disk1 directory using launchpad.exe  Select “Install IBM Rational Method Composer”; click “Launch Installer”  Click on “Check for other versions and Extensions” to download; press “Next”  Accept terms; press “Next”  Location tab: press “Next”  Features tab: select additional desired languages (if any); press “Next”; press “Next”  Summary tab: Press “Install”  “Finish”, “Exit” installer  Go immediately to steps 2 & 3!  Do not start using tool (yet) or you may forget to do these steps!

IBM Software Group 8 Installing RMC – Step 2: Activate License  RMC 7.5 requires that RMC be “activated” to become ‘permanent’  This is the same as how RMC 7.2 worked  Otherwise, the installed product is a ‘trial’ version and will expire in 30 days  There is no ‘license’ required; only the activation kit  Requires file C1SI0ML.zip from the download  Unzip C1SI0ML.zip to reveal the Activation Kit (remember location)  If you do not have this file go back to the “How to Download RMC” slide  Follow the instructions, except as you don’t need to download everything instead of “select all” choose to expand the eAssembly and choose the missing file

9. IBM Software Group 9 Launch “IBM Installation Manager” from Start Menu

10. IBM Software Group 10 Use IBM Installation Manager to Activate Product  Select “Manage Licenses”  If there are multiple IBM products managed using IBM on your machine RMC 7.5 may not default  Select “IBM Rational Method Composer 7.5”  Select “Import product Activation Kit”  Press “Next”  Browse and select.jar file from C1SI0ML unzip location  Press “Next”  Accept Terms; press “Finish”  You will receive validation of installation of a “permanent” license

11. IBM Software Group 11 Installing RMC – Step 3: (Optional) Update RMC  Any fix packs, etc. need to be applied via IBM Installation Manager (which is already open from Step 3)  In the future if you want to get apply RMC tooling updates do this as well  Select “Update” from IBM IM  Select “IBM Rational Method Composer 7.5” (and any thing else you want updated at the same time); Press “Next”  No updates may be available – no further options will be provided  Otherwise, apply desired updates

12. IBM Software Group 12 Installing RMC – Step 4: (Optional) Unzip ITUP Library  Optionally unzip C1PG9ML.zip for ITUP library and published content to a temporary location  Read the “readme.txt” file to better understand what is provided  In a nutshell: both the ITUP library (in the “content” directory) and the published ITUP web site (in the “published” directory) have been provided  Unzip ITUP for the language(s) you desire  Refer to “readme.txt” for language extensions  “Content” directory  Although you can unzip this anywhere, placing it in the same directory location as the RUP and Practice libraries may be convenient for future browsing –Assuming the default install directory was used, unzip to: C:\Program Files\IBM\RMC75\rmc  It is a best practice to copy the entire zipped ITUP library to this directory as a backup –You will find that there are already two zip files in this directory which are backups for the RUP and Practices libraries!  “Published” directory  Although you can unzip this anywhere, placing it in the same directory location as the RUP and Practice libraries may be convenient for future browsing –Assuming the default install directory was used, first create a new directory in: C:\Program Files\IBM\RMC75\rmc (e.g. “Published ITUP”) –Not creating a new directory will mix the published ITUP site with your RMC install – not a problem, but messy –Unzip files to the directory you created

13. IBM Software Group 13 Installation FYIs  Where did it install?  New default directory structure: C:\Program Files\IBM\RMC75  RMC 7.2 installed to: C:\Program Files\IBM\RMC72  Prior versions installed to: C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\SDP\Rational Method Composer x.y  Windows Start Menu  RMC is labeled as “IBM Rational Method Composer 7.5” –RMC tooling: “Method Composer” - used to create, customize, and publish content… and more! –RMC published content: “IBM Practices” and “IBM Rational Unified Process” is available via the sub-directories  IBM Installation Manager (as covered in this ppt in steps 2 & 3 of install)  Note: Multiple versions of RMC can co-exist on one machine!

14. IBM Software Group 14 Installation FYIs  What about shortcuts?  One is not automatically  To create one navigate to C:\Program Files\IBM\RMC75\RMC  To create a shortcut for the default RMC tooling launch: right-click on “RMC.exe”, choose “Create Shortcut”, drag-and-drop shortcut to desired location (e.g. Desktop), and rename to “RMC 7.5”

IBM Software Group 16 Leveraging the RMC Libraries  RMC 7.5 ships with two content libraries  The “RUP” library remains the default library initially displayed  Default installation path  The “Practices” library can be opened via File | Open | Method Library  Default installation path  The Practices library leverages a new Process Builder perspective  This perspective allows quick selection of practices to jump start an initial configuration  Return to Authoring perspective after creation to customize further or publish
