12 500 Years of Combined Experience - Pre Electrification
1868 1876 1927 1934 1947 500 Years of Combined Experience - Pre Electrification Glamox is a well established company, founded back in 1947. As a manufacturer of marine lighting, we gained our experience through cooperation with Norwegian shipowners, rebuilding their fleet after WW II. Starting from the early 70’s the offshore adventure in the North Sea began and Glamox became the main contributor withing our part of the electrical dicipline. The group today consists of 4 other companies and brands, all of them with even longer experience than the mother company. In fact, two of the companies, Høvik and Aqua Signal, were founded in the late in the 19th century and started suppling marine lighting before Thomas Alva Edison invented the incandescent lamp. Funny enough, relating to the oil and gas industry, in the copper lanterns or the brass wall lamps, they used kerosene, the first commercial applicable product from hydrocarbons. Today we use LEDs in the same products. All together we have combined experience of almost 500 years in the group and have several of the most reckognized brands in our part of the worldwide marine and offshore industry.
