Background Designed by SANJOG – an NGO based in Calcutta, India. The game was field tested with children from 2 NGOs. The first edition of the game (1000 copies) was supported by the European Commission and Groupe Developpement. Launched in Kolkata in July 2006, in Delhi in December 2006, and in Mumbai in May 2007, in Nepal in 2009,in Pakistan in 2010, in Bangladesh in 2011 amongst more than 500 NGOs from South Asia. Available in English, Hindi and Bengali, Telugu, Urdu, and Nepali.

Principles of the game Children interact with various social agents in society who inform children on various subjects: Teachers build skills in children on mental math, and educate them on geography and history in non-text book ways The doctor educates children on health (the mind and body( and hygiene, and protection from diseases The social worker informs children about their rights and systems that can help them The policeman informs children on laws that protect their rights and on juvenile justice

Principles of the game Through the game, children have opportunities to save money, invest and buy through banks, shops and post- office. The HIV / AIDS questions reinforce the information on transmission, prevention, treatment and rights of people living with HIV. Negative behaviours on crimes and substance abuse are reprimanded – positive behaviours and values are rewarded through a box called ‘Mukka - Masti’ (based on the principles of negative and positive reinforcement) Children imbibe values on information seeking behaviour and empathy

Edutainment game It helps children and adolescents in: Building their self-esteem by winning in this skills based game instead of chance based games. Stressing on the value of information and knowledge – tokens of the game. Building a team, working in collaboration in transactions and donations Reinforcing positive behaviours and reprimanding for self destructive behaviour. Developing money management skills and encouraging savings. This game being a tool for facilitators (teachers, social workers, parents) to raise awareness on child protection and other social issues.

Most importantly, the game aims to provide children with a tool whereby they can receive, share and disseminate information on a range of topical subjects on their own, without the supervision of adults. As proven through field tests, it is easily used by peer educators, and is a great tool for outreach and awareness generation on life skills. Participation and peer leadership
