3 Sardanas: It’s a typical Catalonian dance, they dance an undetermined number of people holding hands and making a circle. Castellers: The "castells" are enormous human towers (toy can be until 9 floors tall), originally from Tarragona. Although in Barcelona we can see popular feasts, specially during “La Mercè”. Sant Jordi, patrón de Catalunya: The 23 rd April, Catalans celebrate “Sant Jordi”, being a tradition to present a rose or/and a book. La verbena de Sant Joan: The 23 rd June night, we celebrate the summer solstice, and we kindle huge fires, we throw firecrackers and fireworks and finally we eat the traditional “coca de Sant Joan”. Las fiestas de la Mercè: They are the major festivals of Barcelona, celebrated the 24 th September week (“la Mercè day). We organize all type of activities, specially interesting the “correfoc” (dragons of fire from all Catalonia), and the pyro-musical spectacle (fireworks and classic music close to the Montjuic fountain).

5 The claims of Catalunya are pacific. They never use the violence to get what they want. There are few cases where people use violence, much less weapons. The Catalans solve the problems talking or being on strike. When the Catalans be on strike, they meet in a very big and centre place like the strike in Plaça Catalunya. The more recent and important strike is the manifestation of the independence.

In the X and XI centuries the Catalan language was formed. The first texts written in Catalan were in the XII century. 7 Outside of Spain people think that the Catalans are Spanish but most of us feel independent from Spain. Between Catalonia and Spain there isn’t good relationship.

8 Form part of the Mediterranean diet and includes a wide variety of sea,mountains and garden. · One of the most famous plate or entrant is Bread with tomato with olive oil and salt. ·And other one is Calçots,a type of onions,cooked on the grill and wet calçots sauce. ·Many of foreigners when they come to Catalunya used to ask is the Paella that the main element is the rice althought it may be with other things like fish or meat.
