ZESPÓŁ SZKÓŁ IM. GEN. S. KALISKIEGO W GÓRZE Good practices in ICT teaching

2 “ Any technology which increase the rate of learning would enable the teacher to teach less and the learner to learn more” ZESPÓŁ SZKÓŁ IM. GEN. S. KALISKIEGO

ICT tools and their users 3 Digital classroom Teachers Students Local community Parents Members of community Administrators School administrators

TOOLS WE USE THE COMPUTER MS OFFICEHARDWARE TEAM/PROJECT MANAGEMENT TOOLS LOTUS: QUICK PLACE MICROSOFT SHARE POINT 4

TOOLS WE USE THE INTERNET DISCUSSION WEBS INTERACTIVE DATABASE BLOGS CONFERENCE SYSTEMS E-MAILS E-MAIL LIST SERVERS 5

6  To promote the skill of learning to learn and improve the learning outcomes  To provide “head- heart and hand approach” to learning  To communicate and collaborate OUR main objectives for using ICT

 To publish learning products  To use multimodal representations, multimedia and hypertext possibilities  To have an unlimited access to authentic resources  To support the process of learning 7

OUR main objectives for using ICT  To improve teaching and learning efficiency  To motivate students to learn in a different way.  To support the process of learning 8

OUR teachers use the following ICT tools ICT TOOLS Internet as an ICT teaching/learning tool, interactive boards, webcams, teachers e- resources portals, PLC Professional research pages, podcasts etc. 9

OUR teachers and ICT tools: THE REASONS FOR USING THEM  an access to authentic reading-listening material and engage students in the learning process  cater for individual differences  make the lessons more exciting and informative  Provide resources such as: list of books and journals, hypertext links to sound and videofiles and interactive assignments + textfiles 10

OUR teachers and ICT tools We use myriad of computer programmes to prepare our students to take their vocational exams We use specially designed programmes to prepare pour students to do their future work efficiently and to gain valuable computer skills 11

OUR teachers and ICT tools OUTCOMES  better understanding of how ICT-tools used to mediate teaching and learning affect the teaching task  sharing and demonstrating the knowlegde in unique ways  motivation and enhancing the empathetic learning atmosphere  an holistic approach to both; teaching and learning 12

OUR TEACHERS USE INTERACTIVE BOARDS TO:  Give PPT-presentation  Present Webs - digital portfolios  Use Word linear text-file  UseText with icons  Show PowerPoint slides with or without talk  Use authentic tools available on the Internet 13

IN OUR ICT CLASSES… Being fully aware of the fact that, the growing use of technology in today's world is pushing teachers to consider the integration of ICT into the classroom. That is the main reason of using computing and communications facilities to support teaching and learning in our school. 14

IN OUR ICT CLASSES… To reach the goal during our lessons we use:  Software: Text editors, databases, e-mails, spreadsheets, Internet, browsers, CALL software, etc.  Hardware: CPUs, printers, digital cameras and audio, etc. 15

WE ALSO USE FRONTER 16

FRONTER? What is it? Fronter is a well-known learning platform used by students and teachers around the world. It gives you an access to the platform full of materials, tasks or tests at any time, from any place. It contains a large number of various tools that allow fast and direct communication between all users, as well as the maintenance of a secure server 17

FRONTER USES Teachers get a better understanding of how ICT-tools used to mediate teaching and learning are affecting the task Students are supposed to send the teacher their assignment and get direct/personal feedback and grade 18

FRONTER 19 USES Teachers and students A tool for interactive multiple choice exams Administrators Teachers share Supervision of teachers Monitor student progress Accountability

FRONTER 20 USES Parents Can follow the progress of their child, receive comments from a teacher with an access to a student's personal Portfolios Have an easy and fast communication with teachers and school officials Can express views which increase thier involvement in a school life and teaching processincreasing your role and commitment to the school.

Fronter: sharing the news among teaching community 22

Fronter: everyone can make an announcement 23

Fronter: have the access to all the available resources 24

Our students and ICT learning tools 25 E-mails:  Communication with teachers and other students  Assignments submission  Creating nice learning environment on the web. Creating Word file as attachments

Our students and ICT learning tools CHAT AND VIDEO CONFERENCES  Communication with other users  Collabotative learning  Knowlegde sharing  Chat – MSN  Using pictures  Using sound - talk 26

Our students and ICT learning tools 27 SOCIAL WEBSITES used to communicate and share

We do noticed the shortcomings of ICT tools, though…  The ICT tools require Careful lesson planning  We can develop computer phobia  We need constant technical support/back-up lessons  We must take into account the students’ needs and interests  We must know how to locate, synthesize, and use technology, communication networks, and electronic resources effectively 28

ALL IN ALL, The old classroom model simply does not fit our changing needs. It’s a fundamentally passive way of learning, while the worlds requires more active processing of information.” Salman Khan
