3 Carmen Lomas Garza Carmen Lomas Garza wants people to know how her family lived when she was growing up in a Mexican- American community in south Texas. Curandera shows a healer working to help a young woman get well, using traditional ways. Each detail in it tells us something about Garza’s life and family.

9 Roy Lichtenstein American Pop Art icon Roy Lichtenstein’s work reflects imagery from comics and advertisements. He integrated playful use of Benday dots from comic strips into his paintings to explore everyday life. The Benday process consists of overlaying primary color dots onto a printing plate so new colors are made.
