2 London plays a leading role in the political, economic and cultural life in Britain. The city has an international airport Heathrow, a river port on the River Thames, many world famous sights: Big Ben, Westminster Palace complex, the fortress of the Tower and others. Historical and administrative centre of London is Westminster.

4 The Queen of Great Britain The Queen of Great Britain is Elizabeth II. Her husband is Duke of Edinburgh. They have got 4 grown-up children: Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.

6 Big Ben Big Ben - «the Voice of London", shows the exact time. The building of the clock tower began in 1837 with the assent of Queen Victoria. The watch designer Sir Edmund Grimtorp, an architect and watchmaker, died before the bell was installed. In fact, Big Ben is not a tower and a clock, it is the name of the bell and the clock.
