2 Pipeline In the last academic year (2011-2012)…  More than 750 students enrolled in 18 non- language courses with an Indian or S. Asian focus  At two of our campuses, 312 students took 18 Hindi-Urdu language courses Building the next generation of India-engaged global leaders

3 Partnerships Creating deep and multi-faceted relationships with Indian partner institutions  8 UNC campuses reported 41 partnerships with institutions in India

4 Partnerships Creating deep and multi-faceted relationships with Indian partner institutions  The largest concentrations of partner institutions are in New Delhi (6) Mumbai (4) and Chennai (3)

5 Study Programs  In AY 11-12: 135 ECU students took 9 virtual courses jointly with students and faculty in India.  In AY 11-12: 30 students participated in study abroad programs.  More than 50 UNC faculty have traveled or taught in India Building the next generation of India-engaged global leaders

6 Faculty Involvement  Since 2005, more than 40 UNC faculty have coauthored research publications with authors at Indian institutions  This research has spanned agriculture, business, computer science, engineering, medicine and physics Source: REACH NC

7 Alumni 5 campuses reported  1,741 alumni originally from India  553 currently residing in India.  This represents a huge data gap

8 Current Students 5 campuses reported  122 visiting scholars from India  356 Graduate and Undergraduate students from India studying on Visas

9 People  In 2011, there were more than 70,000 people of Indian ancestry living in North Carolina  Between 2003 and 2012, the number of students from India increased from 900 on 10 UNC college campuses to 1,418 on 15 UNC campuses

10 Trade In 2011, NC-India Trade totaled more than $1.2 billon Source: International Trade Administration
