3 OVERVIEW Located in Winnipeg, the capital of Manitoba Founded in 1877, it was the first university to be built in Western Canada Over 30,000 students are enrolled More than 13% of these are international students from more than 80 countries UM is known for being research intensive and provides more than 24 faculties Offers all professional programs (except veterinary medicine and optometry) The International College of Manitoba (ICM), located on campus, offers a pathway to 2 nd year university designed specifically for international students The UM English Language Centre provides CanTest, TOEFL iBT, IELTS and TOEIC preparation programs, intensive academic English programs, English for Academic Purposes, the Canadian University Experience Program, and is an IELTS Testing Centre The UM International Centre for Students helps students with accommodation and student services UM has options for homestays, and several on-campus residences Brazilian students are eligible for the Science Without Borders Scholarship

9 OVERVIEW Located in Brandon, Manitoba’s second-largest city BU is a rural campus with an urban feel Over 3,000 full and part-time students are enrolled Approximately 5% of these are international students from more than 40 countries BU is known for its dedication to the liberal arts and sciences, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees through its Faculties of Arts, Education, Health Studies, Science and its internationally-acclaimed School of Music The BU English for Academic Purposes program provides the opportunity upon completion to achieve regular university admission The BU Office of International Activities helps students with accommodation and student services BU has options for homestays and three on-campus residences
