11 ISTE Standard 1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity b. Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources. JB instructional goal: Analyze and summarize JetBlue data using statistical methods. This will be addressed through the use of real-world (JetBlue) data in our design as the learner manipulates and problem solves. Epitome will be part of the design to engage the learner. Each module progressively builds on the skills obtained from earlier modules using authentic situations at first, and then relating that to JetBlue job functions. 2. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity. We will be using Captivate 5.5 to design our modules with the purpose of 1) Explaining Excel statistical spreadsheet terms and concepts. 2) Demonstrate basic Excel navigation and functionality for statistical analysis, and 3) Perform basic statistical analysis using JB data. d. Provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching. Captivate 5.5 allows the learner to progress at their level with scaffolding. We plan to design formative assessments that will allow learners to progress at their level, including external tutorials to build skills as needed.
