3  The Global Learning Symposium was held in Toronto, Canada, From 29 April to 1 May 1985.  45 individuals from 21 countries participated.  Comments.

4  the global is not only ‘out there’ but it is wherever people live. the global is not only ‘out there’ but it is wherever people live.  It is thinking about our behavior in a big context - recognizing that our choices have a profound effect on our global environment and our future.  It is to understand the global challenges we face and to develop the capabilities to create a more just and sustainable world.

5 Why global learning? What is unique about it?

7 94% of teachers feel that schools should prepare pupils to deal with a fast- changing and globalised world. 80% of teachers feel that thinking about how teaching contributes to making the world a better place motivates them to stay in teaching.

8 Conclusion Global learning can offer a source of inspiration for teachers and students alike. Global learning may offer school leaders real opportunities to boost satisfaction and retention.

9 globalisation challenges our ideas about knowledge and about the role of the teacher. -There are things which  They (the teachers) cannot know.  people have a range of valid views on.  nobody has definite answers to (poverty). Role : facilitator.

10 Global learning includes the whole school community and offers opportunities to reflect on attitudes and values that are held.

11 Research: Global learning has an impact on pupils’ learning and attitudes.

12 those who have experienced global learning in school are: - keen to understand more about the problems in the world. -more to believe that what they do in their daily lives can affect those in other countries. -more to believe that people like them have the ability to make a difference.

13 -appear to be more open to people of different backgrounds than those who have not experienced global learning in school. -more likely to say that they try to do things to make the world a better place.

14  Technology is a great asset in internationalizing education because it allows students: -to overcome geographic barriers. -to communicate and collaborate with their peers around the world.

15 -to publish and share work. -to talk to one another.  international courses online.  Encourages schools to create virtual relationships with other schools in other parts of the world.
