Introduction Software suites, such as Microsoft Office 2003, Microsoft Office 2007, OpenOffice.org, Star Office are made up of several complementary applications that can include word processing, spreadsheet, presentation,, data base, Publisher etc. Most new PCs are sold with full or partial software suite installed on the system. The software suite program give you plenty of help with getting started and different template to help you to perform your project.

4. WORD PROCESSING At work, at home, at school, and during leisure activities we spend much of our time writing. Whether an e-mail, an announcement, a report or a newsletter all can be made easier and more presentable through the use of word processing software. Word processing software lets us create, edit and format document in preparation for output. Output may the document is printed, displayed on a monitor, faxed or e-mailed.

5. WORD PROCESSING Word perfect is the perfect example of how automation can be used to increase productivities and foster creativity. It reduces the effort you must devote to the routine apects of written so you can focus your attention on its creative aspects. For example, a spelling checker checks your grammar and spelling, an online thesaurus helps you find the right word, etc.

6. WORD PROCESSING To create an original document, such as resume, you simply begin entering text from the keyboard and as needed entering formatting commands that enhance the appearance of the document (spacing, bold, italics, alignment, and so on) when it is printed or displayed. You can insert images such as photo you can resize it within document. Once you are satisfied with the content and appearance of the document, you are ready to print, send or display it. Example of word processing program are Ms word 2003, Ms word 2007, OpenOffice Writer etc

7. SPREADSHEET SOFTWARE A spreadsheet is simply a grid for entering rows and columns of data. Spreadsheets are organized in a tabular structure with rows and columns. The intersection of rows and columns designated a cell. The raw are numbered and columns are lettered. Data are entered and stores in a cell. During operation data are referred to by their cell address (A2:C5). Spreadsheet allows you to enter picture, insert charts and perform complex calculations. Example of spreadsheet application, Ms office 2003, Ms office 2007, Openoffice calc.

8. INTERNET The internet is a worldwide collection of interconnected networks. Its actually, composed of millions of independent networks at academic institutions, military installation, government agencies, commercial enterprises, internet support company, and any other type of organization. The number of people using the internet is now in the billions. The Net link over millions networks available 24 hours a day. In America, over 99% of the schools have internet access that is made available to students. The internet has created a global village in which nations around the world are taking steps to increase internet access. Within the decade, the whole world will be wired.

9. INTERNET APPLICATION The term internet and World Wide Web are used interchangeably, but they are not the same. World Wide Web is one way of accessing information over the internet. The internet is global networks of computers and transmission facilities, for information exchange via the Web, e-mail, instant messaging, search tools and other internet applications.

10. Web servers World Wide Web or called Web, is an internet system that permits linking of multimedia documents among servers on the internet. By establishing a linked relationships between Web documents, related information become easily accessible.

11. FTP Servers The File Transfer Protocol (FTP) allows you to download and upload file on the internet. You can download exciting games, music, published and unpublished books, maps, photos and utility and application programs. you must be an authorized user (know the pasword) to access protected FTP sites. However most are anonymous FTP sites that maintain public archives. Anonymous sites allow every one on the Net to transfer the file without prior permission. If you are asked to enter user ID and password, enter anonymous or ftp on user ID and enter your e-mail address or just tap to enter at the password prompt.

12. E-mail You can send and receive e-mail with anyone who has an Internet e-mail address. There are two ways to send/receive e-mail, via e- mail client software or via web based software. Email client software such as Microsoft Outlook, enable e-mail through program running on your computer. Web-based email is handled through interaction with a web site, such as Yahoo or Hotmail

13. Instant Messaging Instant messaging is a logical outgrowth of e-mail and chat. Several internet company has been popularized instant messaging such as Yahoo and Microsoft which provide convenient way for you to know when your friends, family, and colleagues are online so you can communicate with them in real time. To participate in instant messaging, you must first sign up with the services, then create a contact list. When somebody is online you will be notified by “buddies” that he/she is online.

14. The Internet Telephone The internet telephone application become so popular that is being bundled with other popular Internet communication software, such as instant messaging. Internet phone software capability lets you call people at other computers on the Internet with the same capability. Internet telephone work by first establish a connection with the Internet, then open your internet application software. The software automatically notifies the host server that you are available for calls. If you and your brother want to talk, you would both to be online with the internet application software running and be registered with the same server.

15. SEARCH ENGINE Each major portal, such as yahoo, Google, Excite, provides a resource discovery tool called search engine, to help you find information and services that you needs. Most of them let you find information by keywords, or perhaps a phrase, that best describe what you want.

16. SEARCH ENGINE Some hits may reduce your search time Read the search rules. Click on help and read the instruction first. If you don’t get results with one search engine, try another. Results very significantly between search engines because their databases are compiled in completely different manners. The results of the search are seldom exhaustive. You may need to go to one of the listed sites, and then follow the hyperlinks to find the information you need. Choose the search words carefully. The keyword and phrases you enter are critical to the success of your search. Try to be as specific as you can. You may wish to try the portal’s advanced search options which enable you to narrow your search. Be persistent. Many of your search will result in something like “search item not found”. This does not mean that information you need is not on the internet. It means only that you need to extend your search to another search criteria and/or other search engines.

17. SEARCH ENGINE The internet has hundreds of search tools, some of which focus on particular area, such as technology or medicine. These are among most popular search tools.
