Pancreatic cancer is Canada’s fourth leading cause of cancer death and has been identified by Charity Intelligence Canada as the most seriously under-funded cancer, receiving less than one percent (1%) of all research and charitable funding. 3. About The Dick Aldridge Charity Golf Classic We lost Toronto Argonaut, Dick Aldridge, suddenly to pancreatic cancer in 2004. In his honour and the memory of others who have died from this silent killer, The Dick Aldridge Charity Golf Classic was created to raise awareness and to support pancreatic cancer research. This golf tournament soon evolved into Canada’s only foundation dedicated to fighting pancreatic cancer. Each summer, old friends and new, and those who have recently taken our cause to heart, come together to share stories and raise much needed funds for early detection and effective treatment options. The beneficiary of our fundraising efforts is the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, The Ottawa Hospital. The BC Cancer Agency, Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton and the Cancer Research Society in Quebec. We have raised close to $750,000 at this signature event and with your support, we anticipate another successful year.
