2. Since 1997 the Michael Cuccione Foundation has been dedicated to raising funds for Childhood Cancer Research and supporting children along with their families through such adversity. We can't treat children like adults. In the past the majority of research dollars were spent on adult forms of cancer and little was being done at the childhood level in British Columbia. This has all changed because of the important seed late Michael Cuccione planted to fund young researchers for childhood cancer and the important legacy that has continued for the past 17 years. The Michael Cuccione Childhood Cancer Research Program is established at the Child & Family Research Institute at BC Children's Hospital. This is the only Childhood Cancer Research Program of its kind in British Columbia.
