About Nepal Nepal is a landlocked sovereign state located in South Asia. With a population of approximately 27 million (and nearly 2 million absentee workers living abroad) Nepal is the world's the 41st most populous country. It is located in the Himalayas and bordered to the north by the People's Republic of China, and to the south, east, and west by the Republic of India. Partnership for Sustainable Development (PSD) is a non-governmental, social development organization which aims to support the poorest and most vulnerable communities in Nepal. Through the vast experience of its staff, PSD has the capability to facilitate social transformation, empowerment and to provide consultancy for the execution, monitoring and evaluation of development project activities.

Example Project PSD is proposing the renovation of classrooms, Painting, Electrification wiring, Furniture, books and educational materials. The school building has been very old and the class room looked very dark. The project will help improve the overall efficiency with which the school is run smoothly. With this support classroom will be brighten and facilities are improved so that enrolment of the students will increase. The project idea was developed through meetings held between the teachers and headmaster of the school, the school’s management committee and members of the community including parents of the students. DARE project will be similar to this and just as well structured, PSD are just awaiting out confirmation as to volunteer details and the project will be planned PSD is proposing the renovation of classrooms, Painting, Electrification wiring, Furniture, books and educational materials. Project Aim The aim is to improve living conditions in rural Nepal The mission and objective of Summer Projects is to encourage and invite International/National volunteers to contribute directly in the areas of rural community development, education and environment/ nature conservations As DARE volunteers our aim is too fully participate on the project and fully contribute to the work of PSD Nepal and assist them in anyway we can

What are the benefits to the locals? PSD Nepal hopes to empower children, youth, women and disabled persons, through the projects in the areas of education, youth development, health/sanitation, information technology and environment. Brief overview of Costs As this project is with PSD Nepal, a larger partner organisation volunteers are required to pay a personal costs. Although DARE does not normally incur personal costs to volunteers such as administration fees, on this occasion this fee is necessary due to the project being very well structured and the huge benefits to both local and volunteers Administration fee 125 Orientation phase 95.24 Language trainer Stationary, photocopy and materials Travel to and from training site Food and accommodation vols Taxi fare and other Expenses Logistic for volunteers 100.00 Bus fare to and from placement Porter and local transportation Placement food and accommodation Total of £ 320 As this project is with PSD Nepal, a larger partner organisation volunteers are required to pay a personal costs.
