2 Graphing A graph is a visual display of information or data. There are 3 main types of graphs: 1. Line Graph 2. Bar Graph 3. Pie Chart

3 Line Graphs A line graph shows trends of how data changes over time.

4 Line Graph Variables When you create a line graph, you will always plot the independent variable on the X-axis (horizontal) and the dependent variable on the Y-axis (vertical).

5 Line Graph Variables If you have a formula like: Velocity = distance time Time = Independent Variable on X-axis Distance = Dependent Variable on Y-axis

6 Line Graph Variables How would you plot density? Density = mass volume Volume = Independent Variable on X-axis Mass = Dependent Variable on Y-axis

7 Bar Graphs A bar graph compares information by counting.

8 Pie Charts A pie chart shows a fixed quantity broken into parts.
