The Demonstration of the Rock Cycle in Arches National Park By: Carrie, Amanda, and Aubrey

Igneous To Sedimentary The Process of igneous rocks turning to sedimentary rocks is 1 st the igneous rock goes through weathering, then erosion, and then deposition 2 nd the rock becomes sediments 3 rd compaction occurs then cementation And then WABAM you have a Sedimentary rock http://www.minimegeology.com/shop/images/Obsidian_W.jpg http://geology.com/rocks/pictures/hematite.jpg

Sedimentary To Metamorphic In order for sedimentary rock to change into metamorphic rock many changes need to take place. This requires: High Temperatures Great Pressure Sometimes a chemical reaction needs to take place too. http://www.msnucleus.org/membership/html/jh/earth/metamorphic/images/gnsgrn.jpg&i mgrefurl http://geology.com/rocks/pictures/conglomerate.jpg

Metamorphic to Igneous A metamorphic rock can change into a igneous rock in 4 simple steps. First the rock melts due to great heat and pressure. Next the rock becomes molten rock. Also known as magma. After that the rock cools and hardens and Ta Da! An igneous rock. http://geology.com/rocks/pictures/granite-coarse-grained.jpg http://geology.com/rocks/pictures/slate.jpg

Rock Cycle Demonstrated in Arches Natl. Park This is one of the many arches in the park. This rock formation is sedimentary rock that has been changed by weathering and erosion. Taken By: Amanda

Rock Cycle in Arches cont. This is a picture of the Three Gossips. This was formed by sedimentary rock eroding into a strange shape. Taken by: Amanda

Demonstration of the Rock Cycle in Arches This Is the tower of Babel It is a Metamorphic rock it was formed by heat and pressure from and igneous rock Later it was Changed by erosion to create this shape Taken By: Amanda

Rock Cycle in Arches cont. The Double Arch This unique arch was formed by weathering, erosion and deposition. It is a sedimentary rock that has been forming for over thousand of years. Taken by: Amanda
