6. Context The Book of Romans The book of Romans is the longest of Paul’s letters to the churches. It provides an in-depth summary of his theological beliefs. It was written by Paul on his third missionary journey around 55 AD., probably during his stay in Corinth. Paul desired to visit the Christians of Rome before going on to Spain. He was delayed, however, and as a result of the delay, he opted to write this letter to the church in Rome.
