5 Summary of Retaining Wall Height Ordinance Recommendations 1.Zones: Single-family lots (A, RA, RE, RS, R1) 2.Standards: - Maximum height of 12’ OR 3 stepped 8’ walls - Backyard retaining walls may not exceed height of adjacent house. 3.Process: High retaining walls that do not comply with standards may be approved by a ZA Adjustment process. 4.Exemptions: -Existing homes that require a high retaining wall, as verified by soils report -Public works - Schools - Public buildings
