1. Task lighting Task lighting is used to provide a localized light source for a specific tasks. Some popular task lighting sources include desk lamps, kitchen or bathroom pendants and lights in refrigerators and other appliances. The type of lighting is designed to be used only when the task is being performed. 2. Lighting Technologies The traditional light source in the home is the incandescent bulb. 4. Fluorescent Lighting Lasts up to ten times longer than an incandescent bulb. Use less electricity and produce no damaging heat. Not as homey and comfortable.

5. Halogen Lighting Lamp is kept brighter than incandescent bulbs. Light is more similar to that of sunlight. Bulbs burn whiter than incandescent bulbs.

6. Tungsten-Halogen Lamps A type of incandescent lamp. Encloses the tungsten filament in a quartz capsule filled with halogen gas. Halogen gas combines with the vaporized tungsten and redeposits it on the filament. More efficient. Lasts longer (up to 6,000 hrs.)

7. LEDs-Light Emitting Diodes Lower energy consumption. Longer lifetime (50,000 to 100,000 hrs). Smaller size. Faster switching. Greater durability and reliability. Cycling. Dimming.
