3 Why English is the global language?

4 As we know at the beginning of the century many countries all over the world were ruled by Britain. All of them were included into the British Empire and were its colonies. Its influence made people learn and speak English. And while it's not the easiest language to learn, it is one of the most useful in the world.

5 OUR PLAN. 1. We work with the map (remember the capitals of the countries, their place on the map) 2. The Presentations. (Listening to the leaders) 3. You should answer the teacher’s questions. 4. The groups ask each other questions. 5. The participants tell about the climate in their country . 6. A 1 min . break. 7. Your quiz. 8. We’ll know the winner of our conference (group). And all pupils get marks.

7 The United Kingdom of Great Britain and northern ireland

8 The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is situated on the British Isles. Area- 244,000 square kilometers. The United Kingdom is made up of four countries: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Their capitals are London, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast.

9 The British Isles are separated from the continent by the North Sea and the English Channel.
The flag of the United Kingdom is known as the Union Jack.

10 England is the largest part of the UK.
Its regions are the Southeast, the Southwest, East Anglia, the Midland and the North of England.

The USA is a highly developed industrial country. If we look at the map of the USA, we can see lowlands and mountains.

27 CANADA is a country occupying most of northern North America, extending from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and northward into the Arctic Ocean.
