2 Habit: Things we do repeatedly without thinking --auto-pilot -- Habits will make us or break us Activity: fold arms 7 Habits can help us 1. Get control of life 2. improve relationships 3. make better grades 4. get along with your parents 5. increase self-confidence

3 Paradigm: Perception/your point of view --usually inaccurate --create limitations; like wearing wrong prescription glasses We have a paradigm about: 1. ourselves: be around people who build you up and believe in you 2. other people: rd pg 17

4 Habit 1: Be Proactive I am the captain of my life; I am the driver not the passenger I choose my attitude; and am responsible for my happiness Being proactive or reactive is your choice

5 Habit 2: Begin With The End In Mind Develop a clear picture of where you want to go with your life. What are your values and goals. Think beyond today so that every step you take is in the right direction

8 Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then be Understood --Listen first, talk second --Try to see things from others point of view before sharing your own thoughts --Try to understand vs Judging; pg 165 --Listen with your eyes, heart, and ears --Try to stand in their shoes

10 Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw --Keep personal self sharp so that you can deal with life -Physical Dimension: body, exercise, eat, sleep -Mental Dimension: mind, read, educate, write -Emotional Dimension: heart, build relationships, laugh, serve others -Spiritual Dimension: soul, meditate, pray, keep a journal -Social Dimension: Interact with others close or intimate friends

11 -Emotional Dimension: feeling, thoughts, social behaviors; feel good about self -Cultural Dimension: Being involved and identifying with the community; involvement in school and civic -Vocational Dimension: Happy with work or school; enjoy what you do -Environmental Dimension: involved with global /world issues; recycle
