A Trip to Dubai Elias Osio

Burj Al Arab This hotel sits 321 meters above sea level on an man-made island linked to the Dubai mainland by causeway. The decor throughout is lavish, in bold tones, and amenities include a full- service health spa, indoor swimming pool, and hair salon. Complimentary wireless Internet is available throughout, and airport transfers via limousine or helicopter can be arranged.

Dubai’s History Dubai was a trading center before it discovered its own oil in 1966, which led to an explosion of jobs and economic growth. The Persian Gulf War caused an increase of trade and global demand for oil, which accelerated the economic growth of Dubai even more. Soon after the war the Burj Al Arab, one of the tallest hotels in the world, opened up in 1999. This further enhanced Dubai’s reputation as a tourist destination. To this day Dubai is known for its daring real estate projects and impressively high standard of living.

Nightlife While I am in Dubai I plan to enjoy the nightlife by visiting some of the many night clubs and bars, such as: Atlantis Boudoir Nightclub Chi Nightclub Ginseng Kasbar Peppermint Club Tropicana Trilogy Night clubs represent modernization because they are the result of urbanization and looser laws and social attitudes that aren’t based on religious texts.

Shopping Malls and shopping centers such as the Mall of the Emirates are examples of modernization because they are the result of industrialization and urbanization. If it wasn’t for these two things shopping malls would not exist.

Restaurants Restaurants such as Kiku, a Japanese restaurant, are examples of modernization because urbanization, industrialization, and social diversity allow fine establishments like these to be successful.

Golf Courses Golf courses like The Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club and the famous Emirates Golf Club are examples of modernization they profit of the tourism industry, and they are the result of a social and cultural change.

Wild Wali Water Park This water park is an example of modernization because it profits from the tourism industry. Also, it shows a change in culture.
