2 Importance of teaching gospel God’s plan uses teachers  Matt 28:19-20; Rom 1:15-16; 10:14; 1 Cor 1:21; 2 Tim 2:2 (Acts 8:30-31) Every mature Christian has some responsibility to teach, Heb 5:12 Teach the gospel only, 1 Pet 4:11; Acts 20:27, 32; Gal 1:6-10 Both public and private teaching are vital, Acts 18:26, 28 2

3 Why you should teach a Bible class (motives) Desire to save souls, Matt 9:36-38 (Rom 10:1, 16-17) Do your part in the body of Christ, Rom 12:3-8  Use God’s gifts, Rom 12:7; 1 Pet 4:10  Bear good fruit to God, Rom 7:4  Strengthen body of Christ, Eph 4:15-16 Experience one of life’s great joys, 1 Ths 2:19-20; 3 Jno 4 3

6 How to teach a Bible class Know your audience, 1 Cor 4:21  Teach with age, maturity and spiritual condition of the student(s) in mind  Adapt to persuade, 1 Cor 9:19-23 Various methods:  Telling: Facts, explain, illustrate  Asking: Problem solving (Jno 6:5)  Showing: Visual aids  Class participation: Involvement  Enthusiasm: Contagious  Pray: To be effective, Col 4:2-4 6

7 Teaching a Bible Class Remove the obstacles that prevent you from teaching the gospel We can all be better teachers:  Keep proper motives (Rom 1:16)  Prepare ourselves (1 Tim 4:16)  Prepare our material (1 Tim 4:13)  Have conviction (1 Tim 4:11)  Be urgent (2 Cor 6:2)  Honor the word of God (1 Cor 2:2)  Try to save some (1 Cor 9:22) 7
