The Rolling Stones 1962-Present Last Album: GRRR (compilation), A Bigger Bang The Rolling Stones started the millennium well, making an appearance in the Concert for New York City, a concert for the recovery from 9/11. Their recent compilation album, GRRR, released in 2012. It was successful, reaching the top of the charts in Germany, Ireland and Austria, and received multiple Gold and Platinum awards from recording associations in the US, Australia, New Zealand, Poland. Their last studio album, A Bigger Bang, in which they returned to their roots while also using modern instruments in some songs, was released in 2005, received moderate reviews by critics, but reached the top of the charts in Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, Greece and more, but did not stay at the top.

3. Kiss 1973- Present Last album: Monster After not doing an album for ten years, Kiss came back with Sonic Boom in 2009 and later, Monster in 2012. Sonic Boom started out great, at #2 in the Billboard 200, and reached #1 in the Billboard Rock Albums, Billboard Hard Rock Albums and Billboard Independent Albums. Monster was not as successful, though it did reach #1 in the U.S. Billboard Hard Rock Charts. It received moderate reviews while Sonic Boom received positive reviews.

4. ACDC 1973- Present Last Album: Black Ice Black Ice released in 2008, and its reviews were generally good, but had a wide range of scores. While The A.V. Club gave it an A-, Allmusic and two other sources gave it three out of five stars. Its chart performance and public reception were amazing. It debuted at #1 on the charts in 29 different countries, and is Columbia Records' biggest debut album since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales data for Billboard in 1991.

5. Aerosmith 1970- Present Last album: Music from Another Dimension They started the decade out well, performing in the Super Bowl XXXV halftime show in January 2001. However, their first album in the century, Just Push Play, wasn't very successful. Not only did it get bad reviews (with some exceptions), but it never got to the top of the charts in any country. The closest it got was #2 in Canada and US. Honkin' on Bobo was released in 2004 and got generally favorable reviews. It reached #1 on the US Blues Albums. Finally, Music From Another Dimension was released on 2012 and received mixed reviews along a wide range, with sources like Drowned in Sound giving it a 2 out of ten starts, while Revolver gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars. It debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200.

6. The Who 1964- Present (with intervals) Last Album: Endless Wire The Who suffered from the death of John Entwistle in 2002, but quickly came back in 2006 with Endless Wire, their last album so far. It received generally good reviews, with exceptions. Even though it did not reach #1 in any country, it reached #9 in the UK and #7 in the Billboard 200. They performed in the halftime show of Super Bowl XLIV and in the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics.

7. The Alice Cooper 1963- Present Last Album: Welcome 2 My Nightmare Alice Cooper released a total of six albums from 2000 to 2013. Brutal Planet released in 2000, then came Dragontown in 2001, which released a week after 9/11. Dragontown is thought to be the sequel of Brutal Planet. Dragontown released favorable reviews. The Eyes of Alice Cooper released in 2003, making it three albums in three years. Dirty Diamonds released in 2005 and received good reviews. Along Came a Spider released in 2008 and received average to favorable reviews. However, it never got near the top of the charts in any country. Welcome 2 My Nightmare released in 2012, and is the sequel of Welcome to my Nightmare, his previous album from 1975.

8. Lynyrd Skynyrd 1964- Present (with intervals) Last album: Last of a Dyin’ breed Lynyrd Skynyrd started out the decade with Christmas Time Again, which released in 2000. It didn't fare too well, receiving two out of five stars from Allmusic. Then, in 2003 they released Vicious Cycle, which received very different reviews from different sources. While Allmusic gave it four out of five stars, Rolling Stone gave it one out of five stars. Its peak position on the Billboard 200 was 30. God & Guns released in 2009, and fared fairly well, with three out of five stars from Allmusic and three and a half out of five from MusicReview. Finally, Last of a Dyin’ Breed released in 2012, and received a wide range of scores. Ultimate Classical Rock gave it a 7/10, but Boston Phoenix gave it zero out of four stars.
