3 Vascular lesions removal Pigmented lesions removal
Indications Hair Removal Vascular lesions removal Pigmented lesions removal Benign skin solid lesions Scar revision Skin sun damage

4 SELECTIVE PHOTOTHERMOLYSIS
Indications SELECTIVE PHOTOTHERMOLYSIS (RR Anderson, JA Parrish, 1983)

5 Wavelength Fluence Pulse Width: ≤ TRT Selective Photothermolysis
Selective aggression of the target without damage of adjacent tissues Parameters: Wavelength Fluence Pulse Width: ≤ TRT

6 Selective Photothermolysis
Absorption The green 532 nm and the infrared 1064 nm lights are absorbed by the hemoglobin which is the targeted chromophore when treating dermal blood vessels. 532 and 1064 nm are optimal wavelengths for treating superficial micro vessels. 755 nm for hair removal up to Skin Type IV, 1064 nm also for darker skin 1320 nm, due to optimal water absorption is ideal for dermal remodeling The epidermal melanin absorption has to been taken into consideration to avoid side effects.

7 Approx. wavelenghts penetration in the skin
Selective Photothermolysis Approx. wavelenghts penetration in the skin Penetration Longer wavelengths as preferable for deeper or larger vessels, because of their greater penetration into tissue and because The relative low melanin absorption may allow more safe heating of the full thickness of the vessel with less risks of epidermal ipo-pigmentation. For small teleangiectasia - such as those occurring commonly on the face and for PWS, lasers emitting wavelengths at or near 532nm are highly suitable, For leg veins treatments the 1064 nm wavelength of is preferable.

8 Thermal relaxation time for vessels of various diameters
Selective Photothermolysis Laser pulse duration – TRT of targets Exposure times for blood vessels should be shorter than their thermal relaxation times Complete heating is achieved without risks of thermal damage of the surrounding tissues (Selective Photothermolysis). Exposure times range from 1 to 10 milliseconds for port wine stains and about 5 to 70 milliseconds for telangiectasia. The power output of the laser must be high enough to permit adequate energy density for vessel coagulation within this time (Energy = Power x Time).
