1. SUSTAINABLE SITE 1-A: RAINGARDEN TO COLLECT ACCCESS WATER FOR PLANTS 1-B: PERMEABLE PAVERS FOR USE ON THE MINIMIZED DRIVEWAY AND SIDEWALK TO FILTER BACK INTO THE SOIL INSTEAD OF TO WASTED SEWERS 1-C: LOCAL PLANTS PLANTED THROUGHOUT YARD TO ENCOURAGE NATURAL PROCESS OF PLANTS 1-D: ELONGATE THE EAST/WEST AXIS OF THE HOUSE MAXIMIZE SOLAR HEAT GAIN IN THE WINTER AND MINIMIZE IT IN THE SUMMER 1-E: LIMIT THE GRADING OF THE SITE TO REDUCE SOIL AND ECO-SYSTEM DAMAGE IN THE FUTURE
7
2. WATER EFFICIENCY 2-A: LOW FLOW TOILETS IN BATHROOM TO REDUCE CLEAN WATER WASTE FROM FLUSHING 2-B: OPERATED FAUCETS THAT HAVE AN EFFICIENT FLOW RATE TO REDUCE UNECESSARY WATER USAGE 2-C: GREYWATER SYSTEM TO USE ALREADY USED SHOWER AND SINK WATER FOR OUTDOOR USE 2-D: CONTINOUS GUTTERING AROUND ENTIRE HOUSE TO COLLECT USABLE RAINWATER 2-E: RAINWATER BIN WITH HOSES TO COLLECT USABLE WATER AND USE FOR LANDSCAPING
8
3. ENERGY & ATMOSPHERE 3-A: SUN EXPOSURE ADJUSTED WINDOW LAYOUT TO MAXIMIZE SEASONAL ADVANTAGES 3-B: REMOTE CONTROLLED WINDOW SHADES TO ENCOURAGE SHADES UP FOR NATURAL LIGHT, AND DOWN FOR HEAT/COOL INSULATION 3-C: ENERGY EFFICIENT APPLIANCES TO REDUCE WASTEFUL AMOUNTS OF ENERGY 3-D: DIMMABLE SWITCHS ON ALL LIGHTS TO ENCOURAGE LESS LIGHT WHEN POSSIBLE 3-E: INCREASED INSULATION IN ALL WALLS TO REDUCE HEAT LOSS
9
4. MATERIALS & RESOURCES 4-A: BAMBOO FLOORING USED IN THE LARGE LIVING SPACES WHICH IS A RAPIDLY REPRODUCED RESOURCE 4-B: LINOLEUM TILE USED IN THE KITCHEN AND BATHROOM WHICH IS AN EASILY AND RAPIDLY PRODUCED RESOURCE 4-C: USE OF RECYCLED DRYWALL ON ALL WALLS IN THE HOUSE TO REDUCE THE NEED FOR BRAND NEW CONSTRUCTED DRYWALL 4-D: RECYCLED AND REFLECTIVE ROOF SHINGLES TO USE WHAT RESOURCES ARE ALREADY AVAILABLE AND BOUNCE LIGHT AND HEAT FROM THE ROOF 4-E: RECYCLING CENTER IN THE KITCHEN AREA TO ENCOURAGE THE REUSE OF ANY MATERIALS USCH AS PAPER, GLASS, PLASTIC
10
5. INDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY 5-A: GREEN LABEL PLUS CARPET WHICH HAS BEEN RECYCLED AND ALSO LOW CHEMICAL ADMITTANCE 5-B: LOW VOC PAINT WHICH HAS LOW CHEMICAL ADMITTANCE 5-C: SKYLIGHT VENTILATION TO ENCOURAGE FRESH AIR IN THE HOUSE AND REDUCE POLLUTAN TS 5-D: CARBON MONOXIDE MONITORS TO CREATE A SAFE ENVIROMENT TO LIVE AND BREATHE 5-E: INCLUDE NUMEROUS INDOOR PLANTS THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE TO INCREASE NATURAL CYCLE OF OXYGEN AND ENCOURAGE NATURAL LIGHT
11
6. INNOVATION & DESIGN PROCESS 6-A: SOLAR PANELS TO CREATE ENERGY BY CAPTURING SUNLIGHT 6-B: WIND TECHNOLOGY WITH BATTERY STORAGE TO BE OUTDOORS AND TO HELP RUN THE LARGER APPLIANCES INSTEAD OF USING ELECTRICITY 6-C: MOTORIZED SHADES ON EVERY WINDOW TO ENCOURAGE FLEXIBLE LIGHTING CONTROL 6-D: LONG ROOF OVERHANG ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE HOUSE TO SHADE FROM THE SUMMER HEAT AND ADD TO WINTER HEAT 6-E: RECYCLED GLASS CONTENT COUNTERTOPS INSTEAD OF TYPICAL GRANITE OR QUARTZ
