Polaris 6x6 UTV Instructions for Fuel Tank Vent Tube Modification 2005 – 2009 models For further information contact: Michelle Ryerson or Carl Dorsey, NIFC; Or Kathy Greer, BLM Safety Office

Materials List 36" inches of copper tubing or steel brake line sized to match the vent tube. The copper will be easier to bend and work with. Several plug in zip ties or regular zip ties. See pictures for locations. A 5" x 7" aluminum plate approximately 1/8" thick with a rubber grommet installed to dampen any vibration around the vent tube. 2 bolts and lock nuts 1/4 x 20, long enough to bolt through the frame and aluminum.

Use a small length of vent plastic tube to attach the new vent tube to. This will act as a vibration isolator for the vent system. The tank end of the metal line is attached to the tank using a short (2”) piece of the original vinyl line as shown. This will provide vibration isolation between the tank and the line.

Take the plastic tube to the store to get the proper size tubing. Make sure to keep the vent line under the main supply line

Bend the line around the frame and down behind the fuel tank. The metal line can be attached to the vehicle chassis with standard plastic tie straps.

Line up the tube to the aluminum plate and drill a hole for the rubber grommet. Place tube through the grommet and bolt plate to the frame. The frame should have holes drilled in the need locations so very little drilling will be needed.

Cut the end of the new line off at a 45 degree angle facing the front of the machine and keep the overall length above the bottom of the frame. Cutting the outside end of the metal vent tube at a 45 degree angle will increase the open area to reduce the possibility of plugging or kinking.
