Inter-Agency Crisis Management, 28 June 2012 6 Example of risk assessment & capability planning: mass evacuation in case of flooding 2 scenario’s: coast & rivers Coast: preventive evacuation seems to be no option (due to scale and preparation time) supply drinking & food, help less enabled, self-help, communication, etc. Rivers: preventive evacuation is possible transportation, safe (housing) places, etc. Coastal flooding: Water depth after 48hrs

Inter-Agency Crisis Management, 28 June 2012 11 Responsibilities Local incidents are usually handled by local authorities -> mayor responsible for public order and safety If the incident exceeds local level the Safety Region coordinates and co-operates -> director safety region The National Crisis Centre coordinates if an incident affects several Departments or regions -> minister of Security and Justice
