 National Grandparents Day  Hobbies  Relationship in a family  Diseases  Grandparents at home

This day is a famous festival all over the world. It was born the first time in America in 1978. We celebrate grandmothers and grandfathers.

Grandparents don’t have the same hobbies their granchildren have. In their free time, they like going shopping, reading, doing crosswords, playing card games like Burraco by French cards or Scopa by Neapolitan cards, but they don’t use a computer.

Grandparents are very important to grandchildren because they can tell lots of stories, teach lots of games by cards. They have patience and can give a lot of love to their granchildren. They are very worried about their children’s and grandchildren’s future, health, education and work. Grandparents can be a source of good advice. When there is a birth it is always the grandfather or the grandmother to look after the baby because it is less expensive

At this age they can have severe diseases like Leukemia, Cancer, Alzheimer, Arthritis and heart diseases. Many grandparents suffer from pulmonary diseases due to smoking.

Grandparents in southern Italy don’t go to nursing homes but they stay at home. They stay at home with their childrens if they are old or left widows or widowers. Usually grandparents do not want to go into nursing homes because they want to enjoy the last moments together with their families.

Thank you for your attention! We hope you have had a very good time!!
