3 What is it? New web application and analysis program designed to help partners increase the efficiency of the software asset management process, drive more sales, and create value- based engagements for customers.

4 Data consistency to drive value and insights EfficiencyPartner insights The WorkSpace will help drive data consistency and richer data requirements across SAM engagements, leading to a better partner and customer experience. The toolset standardizes data collection and reporting which will in time make the Partner more efficient and cut down on the total time spent on engagements. The WorkSpace will give Microsoft better insight into the strengths of each partner. Partners that do a better job of capturing the full data set as part of the engagement will be visible to Microsoft.

The Assessment and Planning Experience (APEx) equips sellers and partners with everything they need to help customers accurately inventory their software environments. Use the processes, resources, data collection application and analysis tools to have better upfront conversations with customers, more efficiently collect inventory data, and provide new insights that will help customers make better decisions about how to utilize their resources to achieve their business goals.

11 The Analyzer is an Excel-based tool that analyzes a customer’s software and server inventory data to reveal trends, shortfalls, savings potential, and opportunities for scale and better use of company resources. In includes a series of charts and summary data that provides views into a software estate that may not have been visible before.

15 Common Question: Some of the information in the CIDC is sensitive data, such as machine name and IP address. Customers will not feel comfortable sharing this information with Microsoft and local laws may not allow the transfer of this data outside of a given country. How can SAM Partners complete the CIDC if the customer or local laws will not allow them to share this data? Microsoft is committed to ensuring privacy. As part of our commitment, a Windows Personally Identifiable Information (PII) encryption application will be provided to ensure that no PII is transmitted to Microsoft. The WorkSpace will not accept a CIDC that has not gone through the PII encryption application. This process will apply to CIDC templates created within the WorkSpace, or independently through third party providers such as Snow Software. The SAM Partner, as the customer’s trusted advisor, will be able to view the identified sensitive data locally in order to provide the customer a complete SAM engagement and solid recommendations based on the customer’s data. Only the SAM Partner will have the ability to de-encrypt the data. This process has been reviewed by Microsoft’s global privacy team, and ensures that sensitive data will not be available to Microsoft.

Share the CIDC with them and work with them to create toolsets to convert raw inventory data into the CIDC template.
