14 All About the Math: Content Clarifying standards for recently implemented integrated math curriculum in Georgia. Identifying key skills required to meet standards. Discussed and modified tasks for classroom implementation.

15 All About the Math: Instruction Reflecting on effectiveness of various textbook resources. Sharing of how to facilitate student centered instructional methods. Sharing of experiences using technology in classroom to differentiate instruction. Sharing of Scholar endorsed math instructional resources (electronic format).

16 All About the Math: Assessment Sharing of content related formative and summative assessment resources. Reflecting on various methods Scholars were using to help students: reflect on how concepts are related prepare for Georgia End of Course Test.

17 Resources Online Professional Learning Community (PLC) is currently using the following online resources: Second Life Google Group Wikispace

18 Second life program is being used to hold online meetings with the participants of PLC. After the initial meeting in November, 2009 all meetings have been in small groups Second Life

19 Google Group A google group with name of UMEP-PLC Participants has been created for communication among scholars. All participants and leaders are members of this group. This group is used for discussions, announcements, and sharing resources

20 Wikispace Wikispace with the name of PLC-Math 1 has been created for participants to share notes, tests and quizzes.

22 How do we reach scholars who expressed interest initially but have not participated? How do we continue value-added peer to peer mentoring between meetings without it being burdensome to scholars? How do we increase the frequency of discussions on math content? SL as a rich platform for professional development.

23 Reflection from Scholars “ Sharing ideas and lesson plans on the wiki site was a great help ” “ I liked sharing resources and information about our experiences in the classroom. There were several suggestions that I was able to incorporate in the classroom. Also, just being a support group for the many frustrations that we run into as teachers was most helpful. The one thing that did not work for me in the beginning was getting to second life. I will have to get a new PC ” “ What work is that we are able to meet online conveniently ”
