To inaugurate the magnificent metallic structure, Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel, the tower’s designer, climbed its 1,710 steps and unfurled a French tricolor flag from its pinnacle. 11

22 ACCENTS IN FRENCH : ACUTE ACCENT Acute accent (L’ accent aigu) is the most common accent used in written French. It is only used with the letter “e” and appears above it to indicate the quality of the vowel sound represented by the letter “e”. Examples: Écoutez Répétez Écrivez André 22
