1. What is LATI?
The Learner Active Technology Infused Classroom is one in which there is a strong focus on problem based learning with technology infusion. Students in our class use LATI for our Language Arts block. A task is given at the beginning of a unit in writing and reading, which motivates the students to want to learn the skills necessary to complete the task.
The students then work on completing a variety of activities on an “activity list” that was designed by the teacher to differentiate instruction.
The teacher provides benchmark lessons on skills that the whole class needs, along with offering mini-lessons on skills that certain children need. One- on- one conferring is a daily occurrence.
Students learn to schedule themselves and sign up for mini-lessons they feel will benefit them. They choose when to complete various activities, sometimes independently, other times with groups or partners. They can even schedule time to work with their teacher on individual concerns or needs.
