2 Transfer Students Entering the CSU This year the CSU accepted in excess of 50,000 transfer students. We have witnessed a 25% increase in CCC transfers to the CSU in the past 10 years. Studies of CSU transfers studies show in excess of 80% percent of transfers remain local when moving to the CSU. Transfer students remain a top admission priority for the CSU – new resources and admission policies result

3 Transfer Resources Working on new California Articulation Number (CAN) system process New Intersegmental Faculty Discipline Review Groups – developing new descriptors CAN descriptors will be enhanced and posted Visit CAN at www.cansystem.orgwww.cansystem.org

4 ASSIST Updates ASSIST is official repository of all articulation agreements in California ASSIST – working to link with CAN descriptors Online Services for Curriculum and Articulation Review (OSCAR) allows for online IGETC/GE submissions, review, and results to campuses. 5 Lower Division Transfer Patterns by Major New CSU Executive Order being finalized and will be available at www.calstate.eduwww.calstate.edu Does not supplant any existing Transfer Admissions Agreements Optional program to achieve priority admission status Designed to allow for those students completing required components to receive the highest admission priority. Contains a prescribed listing of CSU required courses – allowing student to enter CSU as a fully qualified junior in their chosen major. Expediting their time to degree within the CSU.

6 Completion of the General Education (GE)Breadth (39 units) or IGETC (37 units). Completion of U.S. History, Constitution and American Ideals Completion of systemwide lower-division major preparation pattern of a minimum of 6 semester units. Completion of campus-specific lower-division major preparation with prescribed GPA. Transfer a 60 unit minimum and 70 unit maximum Key Program Elements:

7 Systemwide discipline specific faculty groups are meeting to identify the major preparation patterns for designated majors Course articulation numbers will follow and will be posted online Campuses are being asked to identify major specific preparation patterns for designated majors Transfer students meeting all requirements for a specific major and campus will have the highest priority for admission beginning fall, 2006.
