1 Analysis and prediction of altimetric sea level variations during El Niño, La Niña, and normal conditions Tomasz Niedzielski (1,2), Wiesław Kosek (1) 1. Space Research Centre, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland 2. Department of Geomorphology, Institute of Geography and Regional Development, University of Wroclaw, Poland

2 Probability of trend detection in the global „SLA data – seasonal terms” Sea level rise from altimetry ~ 3.5 mm/year 4.3 years What is the minimum time span of the SLA data to estimate a trend in sea level change ? Cox-Stuart test for trend detection In this analysis the SLA data from T/P and Jason-1 altimetry were used: - time period: 10.01.1993 - 14.07.2003; - sampling interval: 1 cycle = 9.9140625 days;

3 LS LS+AR Mean prediction errors of the SLA data for 1 month in the future
