Course Description Within the framework of a program office IPT, this course covers introductory-level concepts in DoD information systems and software acquisition management. Key areas covered include DoD regulatory and technical frameworks, common software risks, software and system architectures, lifecycle reviews and software development and integration processes. Software standards, information assurance, software and system measures, testing, contracting issues, software quality, and the role of process maturity, as well as best practices for the management of software-intensive systems are also introduced.

New Learning Objectives Mapping 19 Learning Objectives 5 Lesson Updates required – Strategy (Skertic) – CMMI (Kennedy) --- Update v1.2 to v1.3 – Cybersecurity (Denman) --- CLE 074 – Metrics (Denny) – Software Sustainment (Cooke) New Lesson Chapters – Capability Planning (Corcoran) --- some redundancy with ACQ 101 – BCA (Thorne) --- CLL 015 covers all objectives

Module 4 - Acquisition Approaches and Development Paradigms (Skertic) Define the most common systems-level acquisition strategies. = 18.1.1.1: Identify acquisition models used to acquire software systems in the DoD (Cooke) Identify an appropriate paradigm for a given software-intensive system. = 10.1.1.1: Given a list of software methodologies, match the software methodology best suited for a given development project. (Kennedy) Initial Assessment – Minor update Required

Module 6 - Measurement: Overview Add 19.1.1.1: Explain the value of an effective IT measurement and analysis program. (Denny) Add 19.1.1.2: Identify the top level requirements for an effective IT measurement and analysis program. (Denny) Add 19.1.1.3: Identify the fundamental practices that enable a viable IT measurement and analysis process. (Denny)

Module 8 - Measurement: Process Measures Add 12.1.1.1: Given a list of continuous process improvement approaches, recognize the three supporting DoD CPI strategies for IT acquisitions (Kennedy) Update to current CMMI version

Module 11 - Critical Requirements: Safety, Security, and Privacy Add - 26.1.1.11 Define a Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) Add - 26.1.1.4: Identify 5 to 7 elements that go into a continuity of operations plan (Denman) Add - 26.1.1.5: Identify underlying guidance and policies associated with cybersecurity within the DoD (Denman) – Note: built into v12 Add - 26.1.1.10: Identify the purpose and key components of a Program Protection Plan (Denman) Modify - Define key information assurance cybersecurity activities to 26.1.1.1: Define Cybersecurity (Denman)

Module 16 – Software Support Add - 18.1.1.2: Identify methods used managing the progress of a software system through its lifecycle (Cooke)

Add Module – Capability Planning TLO: Given a Department of Defense (DoD) Information Technology (IT) acquisition scenario, learner will assess whether objectives in planning documents are stated clearly – ELO 7.1.1.1: Given an overview of the DoD capability planning processes, its objectives and expected results, identify capability planning documents from a list. (Corcoran) – ELO 7.1.1.2: Presented an overview of the Defense Business System (DBS) Business Capability Definition Phase, identify the three principal questions the Functional Sponsor (Corcoran) Consider ACQ 101 JCIDS ELOs

Add Module - BCA TLO: Evaluate a Product Support Business Case Analysis (BCA) using the Department of Defense (DoD) Business Case Analysis (BCA) Guidebook and relevant policies and processes. – ELO 4.1.1.1: Identify the purpose for a BCA. – ELO 4.1.1.2: Given a description of the Product Support BCA flow process, identify the three major components of that process – ELO 4.1.1.4: Identify DoD guidance for BCA development – ELO 4.1.1.5: Recognize the three major elements of the Product Support BCA Structure – ELO 4.1.1.6: Identify the major BCA process components. Consider Reuse of CLL 015 material
