1 Adverb An adverb modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.

2 How do you find the adverbs in a sentence? Look for the predicate part. Find the verb. Look for a word that modifies the verb. That is the adverb. Look for nouns. Then check for adjectives. Any word that modifies an adjective is an adverb. Look for adverbs. Then check for words (like very or extremely) that modify the adverbs. They are adverbs, too.

5 She draws very well. very well

6 The boy skipped very slowly around the room. very slowly

7 He was playing the piano quite loudly. loudly quite
