3 Cargo Gear survey INITIAL SURVEY BEFORE BEING TAKEN INTO USE FOR THE FIRST TIME : To be certified by a competent person To be tested & thoroughly examined Loose gear to be tested & thoroughly examined A rigging plan to be provided (ILO 152)

4 Cargo Gear survey PERIODIC EXAMINATION & RE-TESTING (ILO 32)
A thorough examination every 12 months Re-tested & thoroughly examined after substantial alteration or repair Quadrennial survey conducted every 4 years NB: No new item of loose gear is to be made of wrought iron.

5 Cargo Gear survey PERIODIC EXAMINATION & RE-TESTING (ILO 152)
A thorough examination every 12 months Re-tested & thoroughly examined : After substantial alteration or repair Once in every 5 years NB: No new item of loose gear is to be made of wrought iron.

6 Cargo Gear survey THOROUGH EXAMINATION:
Means a detailed visual examination by a competent person supplemented, if necessary, by other suitable means or measures in order to arrive at a reliable conclusion as to the safety of the lifting appliance or loose gear examined.

7 Cargo Gear survey INSPECTIONS
A visual examination carried out by a responsible person to decide whether, so far as can be ascertained in such a manner, the loose gear or sling is safe for continued use

8 Cargo Gear survey COMPETENT PERSON RESPONSIBLE PERSON
A person possessing the knowledge and experience required for the performance of thorough examinations and tests of lifting appliances & loose gear RESPONSIBLE PERSON Person appointed by the Master to be responsible for the performance of inspections and has sufficient knowledge and experience

Examination of the mast & hull structure, above & below decks adjacent to the appliance Examination of the heel-pin housing attachment to the mast (gooseneck) Examination of the padeyes attached to the mast Derrick – Boom Examination of the boom for damage & distortion Examination of the heel-pin & connection to the boom Examination of the padeyes
