15 Cubs 100 year highlights Planning resources
a programme resource to help you plan for celebrations Thanks event a chance to thank those locally who have brought Cub Scouting through its first 100 years Adventure camps Locally organised adventure camps Promise party a chance to celebrate, reflect and renew our promise This national celebration package has been designed to be as flexible as possible to meet the needs of local demands and time scales. The only fixed date in the programme is Friday December 16th 2016 when we hope that everyone involved with Cub Scouts will share in a Promise event. Let’s take a look at each aspect in turn

16 Cubs 100 birthday badge Uniform badge will be available to buy from Autumn 2015 A special uniform badge will be produced to be worn throughout the year. Members of any section will be able to wear the badge. We want Cub Scouts themselves to be able to design the badge so we are currently running a national competition. Details and a downloadable application form are available from up to the end of January. The competition will be judged in April with the final selection being done by our Chief Scout Bear Grylls. The badge will be available to wear from 2015 onwards.

17 2016 resource packs Available NOW from www.scouts.org.uk/cubs100
To help with planning, we have created four downloadable resources Thanks Events Adventure Camps Promise Party Our Journey We want the centenary year to be an exciting one for every Cub Scout in their weekly meetings. After all, that is where Cub Scouting happens, Throughout the year, a programme resource called ‘Our Journey’ will be available, down loadable from the internet. The programme will give ideas showing how Cub Scouts can make a journey through a series of exciting activities in their pack meetings making the centenary year a year to remember. The resource will give starting points enabling local Cub Scout Packs the opportunity to mould the activities to their circumstances, skills and abilities.

18 Thanks party An event planned to enable today’s Cub Scouts to say thank you to leaders past and present Saying ‘thanks’ to adult leaders both past and present, is an important part of the centenary year. We envisage ‘thanks’ events being organised which involve Cub Scouts themselves being the hosts. On Line support will be available to give ideas.

19 A local adventure camp Each Cub Scout to have the opportunity to attend an adventure camp The camps to have an adventure theme Events to be organised at County, District or Pack/Group depending on local circumstances Sometime between April and October To meet the adventure objective, we will promote the idea that every Cub Scout should have the opportunity to attend an adventure camp during the year. This may be developed at any level from local pack holidays to large district or county/area events. The important thing is to put adventure at the core of the programme. Scout Camp sites and adventure centres could get on board with these events, offering Centenary packages for leaders to buy into.

20 Promise parties Only event with a set date – 19:16 on Friday 16th December End of year celebration event for Cub Scouts and leaders Opportunity to renew our Promise at 19:16 The Promise Party is the one fixed event. We want everyone to stop and reaffirm their promise at on Friday December 16th 2016. The Promise Parties are designed to be the final part of the programme – a chance to have the traditional party with games, food and the all important Birthday cake. It will be an opportunity to raise the profile of Cub Scouting across the UK

21 With your help we can make it a year to remember !
We hope that Cub Scouts and Cub Scout Leaders will remember 1916 as a fantastic year to be involved in the section. The amount of involvement is up to you – the support will be there to help you to make the year special. Good luck in your planning Don’t forget, we love to hear what you have been up to – look out for centenary stories appearing in Scouting Magazine.
