3 National Education Management Information System (NEMIS) - History
Started in 1990 through UN’s financial and technical assistance. Mandated to be the national repository of education data, to act as the standard setting agency, establish linkages and develop capacity of Provinces/Regions. Since 1992, NEMIS is functioning in Academy of Educational Planning and Management, Ministry of Education from Government funding. At the same time, Provincial/Regional EMISs established Published Pakistan Education Statistics on yearly basis since

6 Methodology Under the EFA initiative, 6 Goals with more than 65 indicators were defined. Some Indicators from these have been selected after consultation with stakeholders for Pakistan Education Statistics NEMIS uses the same methodology as defined by UIS in calculating education indicators in the following international documents: Global Education Digest (UIS) EFA Global Monitoring Report (UNESCO) Human Development Report (UNDP)

14 Non-Formal EMIS JICA is providing financial support to all the Provinces and Federal Administered units in Non-Formal Basic Education Duration of this activity is 4-years ( ) Non-Formal EMIS will be established in NEMIS AEPAM NEMIS will provide technical support in the establishment of the Non- Formal EMIS in Provinces/Areas
