3. National Education Management Information System (NEMIS) - History
Started in 1990 through UN’s financial and technical assistance.
Mandated to be the national repository of education data, to act as the standard setting agency, establish linkages and develop capacity of Provinces/Regions.
Since 1992, NEMIS is functioning in Academy of Educational Planning and Management, Ministry of Education from Government funding.
At the same time, Provincial/Regional EMISs established

6. Methodology
Under the EFA initiative, 6 Goals with more than 65 indicators were defined.
Some Indicators from these have been selected after consultation with stakeholders for Pakistan Education Statistics
NEMIS uses the same methodology as defined by UIS in calculating education indicators in the following international documents:

JICA is providing financial support to all the Provinces and Federal Administered units in Non-Formal Basic Education
