4. Ritenour School District Location North St. Louis County

6. History Started as a one-room log cabin called Buck School in 1846. The name Ritenour was not used until 1867. Ritenour grew to be one of the largest school district in St. Louis County.

7. Student Population 6300 students attend Ritenour School District. Over 75% of our students receive Free and Reduced Price meals. 39.8% African American 37.2% Caucasian 14.8% Hispanic 2.2% Asian

8. Why Community Eligibility Provision? Started with the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 Sections 205 and 206. Established requirements for Paid Lunch Equity: Revenue from paid reimbursable meals The average price for Paid Lunches must be more than the difference between the Federal reimbursement for free lunches and paid lunches.

10. Community Eligibility Provision To improve access to free school meals in eligible high poverty schools and districts Alternate to household applications for free and reduced price meals in high poverty areas.

11. Community Eligibility Provision To be eligible, schools and/or districts must meet a minimum level of 40% Identified Students for free meals in the year prior to implementing the CEP. Reimbursement is based on the claiming percentage derived from the Identified Student percentages

12. Identified Students Students certified for free meals through Direct Certification on the basis of their participation in: SNAP TANF FDPIR Homeless, runaway, Head Start or migrant youth

13. Identified Students Does not include students who are eligible based on submission of a free and reduced price application Identified Student percentage is established using the number of Identified Students as of April 1 st of the prior year.

14. Community Eligibility Provision All school or some schools may participate. A new Identified Student % may be established each year of a 4 year cycle.

15. Community Eligibility Claiming The percentage of Identified Students is multiplied by a factor of 1.6 to determine the total percentage of meals reimbursed at the Federal free reimbursement rate. The remaining percentage of meals is reimbursed at the Federal paid reimbursement rate.
