A: Try bandage scissors. They're designed to protect the skin/clothes. Q: I am a boy scout from Germany and I'd love to copy your tape sculptures for an art weekend with our kids. I think I've never heard of "plastic stripes" in stores... A: You can get this plastic by cutting out the center portion of plastic beverage bottles (and then cut again into strips).
