DENDROCLIMATOLOGICAL INSIGHT INTO BLACK PINE (Pinus nigra Arnold) CLIMATE-GROWTH RELATIONS IN BELGRADE AREA Stajić, B., Janjatović, Ž., Dukić, V., Kazimirović, M., Baković, Z. 04.06.2015.

Radial growth of artificially established black pine (Pinus nigra) in the area of Belgrade and its dependence on climate was studied using dendroclimatological methods. Two versions of tree-ring chronologies (standard and residual chronology) were established Dependance between tree ring chronology and climate (temperature and precipitation) was estimated by correlation and response functions INTRODUCTION

STUDIED SITE  The site is classified as Quercetum-frainetto cerris  Moderate terrain slope of 10 degrees  Soil depth is 20-40 cm  Climate is moderate continental with an average temperature of 12.3 C and average yearly precipitation of 692.4 mm  Altitude is 300m  Artificial established stand of black pine is 60 year old  According to yield table (Vučković М. 2008) site belong to II yield class

MATERIAL AND METHODS  From 24 dominant trees two cores from opposite sides were taken at breast height perpendicular to slope direction to avoid compression wood  Tree-rings were measured by LINTAB measurment device and TSAP program in TUCSON (decadal) file format  Triple cross-dating was performed (visualy, TSAP and COFECHA programs)  Pointer years were calculated according to Becker's method  Chronology development is performed by ARSTAN (Cook 1990) program  Data were transfered to R environment for further correlation and response function analysis using dplR (Bunn, Korpela, Biondi, Mérian, Zang) and treeclim (Zang, Biondi) libraries  Calculations and figures are made in R environment

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS  Black pine is a good proxy of climate signal  Investigation show that jun-july precipitations have highest correlation coefficients with standard tree-ring chronology  Value of correlation coefficient (0.4-0.5) between july precipitation and standard chronology is in accordance with spatial analysis results of Levanič et.al. (2013) for this part of Balkan Peninsula.  Negative correlation coefficients between temperatures from april to august and standard tree-ring chronology is in accordance with investigation of Levanič et.al. (2014) on territory of Balkan Peninsula.  Most negative and positive pointer years are related to drought and wet years respectively in Serbia calculated by SPI (standardization precipitation index) for vegetation period (april-september).
